Triumph disaster survivor signs memoir July 11 at The Collective
Patricc Fortiori will sign his new book "The February Triumph: A Memoir" Saturday, July 11, from 3 to 5 p.m. at The Collective. The book is an up-close and intimate look into the author’s new memoir recalling his battle with depression during the voyage of the ill-fated February 2013 Triumph disaster.
On February 7, 2013, The Triumph set sail from Galveston on a three-day Western Caribbean tour that turned into an eight-day disaster for more 3,400 people marooned at sea. The February Triumph: A Memoir chronicles this life-changing event that occurred simultaneously at the height of the author’s struggle with depression. The February Triumph is the true story of his battle through depression and the disaster aboard the Triumph.
The February Triumph is closely personal and dives deeply into the depths of one man’s fight with depression while cut off from the world and helplessly lost at sea for more than a week with no power, no water, no buoyancy system, no communications, no toilets or showers and no food on a ship choked with waste and smoke and ash from an engine fire and explosion.
Patricc describes dealing with depression as "The Devil's Ride.”
A day-by-day, deck-by-deck, behind-the-scenes look into the Triumph disaster, as "Lord of the Flies" meets "Lord of The Rings.”
